Hey hey! We are having a Jam on August 29th (the 5th Saturday) up behind Raggedy Skate Shack of Douglasville.

It is right beside Deer Lick Park (well part of it technically) and is where my team always trains.

We have permission from the Park to use the area so there will be no bother by any security or anything ('bout time...)

It will be from 4 PM to 9 PM but you don't have to stay for the whole thing... (I know it sucks to have it that late but... we kind of have to work with what they give us... however, we should be able to negotiate it with them and get an earlier time {seeing as half of you would be driving from the other side of Atlanta})

so anyways... I will try and push for an earlier time

Oh, other details, Free Food, Free Music (to listen to, not to take), uh.. free Air... hmmm... Oh yea... we are bringing in Obstacles to add onto the area for the Jam... so it won't just be a Bridge and some Picnic tables... there is a large grassy field and a large grass hill that we will be using, it has a low pointless but epically fun bridge and plenty of Picnic tables as well as other obstacles

(We are even taking over the Bocci lanes to hold QM Races or whatever you could use 2 Bocci lanes for... anything but Bocci please... XD)

so yea... We hope to have a good turn out to this peculiar jam
(Strange because of location, time, and the fact that no one in this area of the world has ever done anything like this >.>)

PS: We talked with Parks and Rec and they are teaming up with us to get plans and build a Parkour Park! Also, Raggedy Skate shack loves us (Which is great, they let us do PK at their Expos lol) and they are expanding the shop to include a Parkour Lounge (Room with PK stuff on the walls and a TV playing PK videos {B13 ftw} and a place to buy Tee-Shirts and such... {She hinted that they are going to try and become a vendor for Ariakes... that'd be epic})

So yea... We hope the Jam goes well (The more people that show up, the more likely they will be to build the PK Park!)

oh yea, nearly forgot, Deer Lick is TINY and hard to find so here is a map

Wow, you guys are doing a lot in your community! Sounds awesome!

As for the jam, I am not sure at this point whether I'll make the trip yet. It's a long driver for a bridge and a few picnic tables.. We'll see

If I come from Athens then I may be able to provide a ride. Norcross isn't too far out of the way. Training can be done anywhere, but meeting people can't always work the same. To be honest it is a bit early for me to commit to anything.

I do like the time frame though... it'll be getting cooler as we're all getting tired and beginning to wind down

well, Like I said, I will push for an earlier time... but it might be a little difficult since Douglasville wakes up at the Crack of Noon...

Also, there isn't much out here (Grassy Fields and Thin trees) but also like I said, We are bringing in other Obstacles. We are building a wall for Wall runs and bringing in tons of boxes and such... even a Saw Horse or 7

Who says you need anything but open space to have a good training? You should have seen the Parkour Generations guys in Ohio. They whipped scores of people with only a concrete-paved open space.

Check Parkour Generations: Warm Up, Ohio As well with Parkour Generations: Awaken the touch, Ohio

If you want to watch even more query "Parkour Horizons Memorial Day Expo" parts 1-3. Part 2 is the playground day, and you can see a fair number of Overflux Athenians in there.

I'm sure the day will be a learning experience for all involved. :)

oh yea... I forgot to mention the playground that is 5 feet away from us and the Dog Park that has a 7-8 foot high fence... the Playground isn't too epic... but it has some nice roll practice, flip practice, cat leap practice, precision practice, and a bit of Vault practice thrown in...

Plus it has this weird Spring Board thing... it is something like a bench that is held up by 3 car springs...

the best part is the swing set... mainly because of the swings... Idk, it's the most urban thing we have here in Suburbia...

The biggest thing is that Raggedy Skate Shack is helping out... they are so nice to us... not at all judgmental like the uneducated people of the world... plus they are supplying the food and all... I think they said something about trying to hold contests (We told them that PK/FR is not about contests but some friendly games of Horse and some friendly QM races would be fine) and they sort of mentioned Ariakes as some kind of prize but I wouldn't hold my breathe if I were me... and I am... so I am not...

basically... they hinted at prizes but I don't know if that fell through or is going to be a surprise thing... we'll see

(wow... and I tried to keep THIS one short...)

This sounds like it will be fun regardless of what kind of terrain we have to train. I'll make an effort to bring a friend or two. I'll even go an hour early and look for some other spots, I find it impossible that that's the only place you could have!

If I go of course..

I have this game where I try to find something NOT to do. I've discovered some of the best techniques by scoping out an area I never use and challenging myself to find something not to do there.

I don't stink, that's Beast Mode

Over the past couple months, I've been getting better at finding stuff to do in places even when I thought I had drilled the crap out of it to the point where there's nothing left.

Well... ok... Down Town Douglasville is another semi-hot spot... that is fun down there...

but anyways... don't worry about stuff to do, we are filling the area with Modular boxes and rails and tables and such... also a wall or two... This way, if we get bored of one course, we can re-arrange it all and have a completely different place...

We actually just got back from doing a Demo up there for Raggedy Skate Shack's Game of S.K.A.T.E.

It was great... we tilted a picnic table against a fence and learned wall spins!

So trust me... Ingenuity paired with epicacy will form something beastly...

(btw: We can't really leave the area for THIS Jam because a lot of people from the local area are going to get dropped off (Most of them are skaters that saw us and became interested in learning about what it was) so yea... they all expect to stay so we can't really move too far... but the place is huge so we will have plenty to do)

Oh yea... nearly forgot... The Lady that runs Raggedy has told us that she got in contact with K-Swiss and they've pretty much finalized Raggedy being a vendor for Ariake's... We nearly died when she told us that lol

She also told us that she got in contact with APK and they're getting some shirts and stickers to sell too woo!

Oh and if you want to see the Early EARLY drafts of the Parkour Park

[link]

beware of inside jokes! that is the Team site and we are completely lacking seriousness in some areas (well... just like here actually)

The plan has been updated and I need to take more pictures but yea... it isn't supposed to be high def... just a draft

Wow that looks insane. I would make the drive everyday to go train there! haha little exaggeration, but still looks SICK!

The ONLY thing I could think of is another large wall parallel to the large on the "pitt" so that you can practice cat- cats, or vault from up to a cat.

lol yea my mom told me that I had forgotten about that... she said that I need to add in Parallel walls that are close enough to Spider climb and then taper out enough to do tic-tacs and cat-to-cats (Then we brain stormed and I said that one wall should be shorter than the other to do the cat to precisions and such)

I will hopefully get some updated screen shots soon

but yea... basically, the more people we get to come to this jam, the more the Higher Ups will be pushing the park to be built!

(We've been working ridiculously hard for the passed 2 months {Especially my mom} pushing this Jam and the Park and they are {finally} behind us 100% but want to measure the interest in Parkour)

PS: Also, a lot of people from Douglasville are going to be showing up. This Jam is also an introduction of Parkour into the community. So a lot of people want to learn what it is from seeing us at Raggedy's various games and expos and such... so we are going to need some help teaching all of these new people lol!

(This is insane... I always try and keep my posts short... how do they end up being 17 pages long... ugh {I guess it is because there is a lot riding on the success of this jam so I want to throw out all of the info that I can... we need help lol!})

(Edit!: I updated the pictures... made a Double Post because... well... no one posted in the thread and also it's on my forums so the only one who cares is me lol... but yea... it's at the bottom of the same link, shows the new fake natural section and the Tic-Tac-Cat_Spider area)

She is like the "Team Mom" she helps us get the right information to the right people... I mean, do you really expect the Head of Parks and Recreation for Douglasville to listen to a couple of not even 18 year olds? no but with an Adult it is suddenly fine... it is mainly to get us officiality...

She also supports the fundamentals and philosophy behind Parkour so she is behind us on every project especially the Parkour Park because that gives us a safe legal place to train and also will help other people get in on Parkour and being Fit... and she knows that the success of this jam helps the success of the Park

oh that's cool. My mom doesn't understand why I like to practice "brutal" martial arts and "jumping off buildings" haha I dont even bother explaining though because she wouldn't do anything differently whether she approves or not.

Yea... my mom really should have been the one to post... I tend to forget key details because I'm trying to remember other key details... It is all thanks to Aderol... or however you spell it. it is an ADD medicine that I was on years ago and one of the side effects was Loss of Short Term Memory... thanks... well my parents didn't believe that it would happen to me... and now I can't remember what I had for breakfast half of the time... Which is another reason why she is so supportive of me doing Parkour. It helps me focus on new levels, I've completely gotten rid of taking medicine because Parkour has cured my ADD and pretty much every medical problem I had... So yea... she wants to spread the new about how Parkour can benefit other people

She has read up on all of the philosophy and knows that it isn't just Brutal building jumping lol!

Oh and thanks to everyone so far! Spread the word!

when I first started my parents didn't really understand it much either, than I had them come out to a jam one day and it all just kinda clicked for them I guess.
plus they saw how well traceurs get along and how much alike we all are and figured I had landed myself with some really good people
(I dunno bout that cody117 kid though... he seems like some rif-raf! haha)

Yeah he's right Avian, I'm a wierd crazy mofo that you should avoid at all costs. But then again I don't chase around people in a parking garage trying to get black soot on 'em! Anyways yeah the PK community is one of the tightest knit communities I've ever been apart of. Sure u get the occasional douche but that happens everywhere.

if it is so tightly knit, why are you apart from it?

but yea, I know that pretty much every traceur/traceuse is the same kind of good people. My parents understand this but still don't find it appealing to let their kid run around Decatur with people he met on the internet lol ( But when I get my car going then it is suddenly fine with them X.X )

hahahahaha, ya we'll have parents come out to jams a good bit, they see the kind of hard working and motivated people we are and usually go off and do their own thing... that's usually when we bring out the illicit drugs and prostitutes (they make good pads in case you fall)
