I've been hearing a lot of incoherent blabber from the news about it being a MAJOR SITUATION, GUYS but it doesn't seem like there's that big of an issue, just a lot of pretty swirly smoke that everybody thinks smells kinda funny. | | I certainly agree with you there max. also blowing this way out of proportion completely tears the masses away from the really issues: the econmy the "war on terror" the "war on drugs" these types of stories have and always will be pumped up by the major media markets because they have too much stock in keeping us docile and scared about something we shouldn't be. remember SARS? | | If I have heard it once I have heard it a million times. swine flu, bird flu, anthrax, mad cow disease, bioweapons, killer bees. people are scared of what they can't control, thousands die every year from smoking or car crashes but you are in control of those activities, you have the ability to stop smoking at any time, you have the ability to drive carefully or try to avoid an imminent collision. swine flu gets you in the night, when you aren't looking. I think that we should worry about the millions of deaths caused by smoking, driving, well known diseases, and drug abuse, not the paltry zero that swine flu has killed in america. | ||

| | well actually carson one person has died. a 23 month old infant which already had health problems... who heard about swine flu in Israel? they refuse to call it swine flu because they're not allowed to eat pork so they view it as offense. instead they called it Mexican flu because that's so much better. the Palestinians right next door who are also not allowed to eat pork said "it's a disease the pigs carry, therefore it's fighting that the name is swine flu". those crazy Israelis and Palestinians! what will they do next?
